Our book
reflects the current state of research in a major area of descriptive
set theory.
Its main focus is measure and category in set theory, most notably the
asymmetry results.
The book consists of three interleaved parts: results that can be
proven in ZFC and its extensions, independence results and ``tools''
used to accomplish the first two goals.
The book is suitable both as a textbook for an intermediate to
advanced graduate course in set theory and as a reference.
It requires basic knowledge of set theory, including forcing,
topology and measure theory.
